ITI-Feder (2024 - 2027)
The Noz Breizh chair is pleased to announce the launching of a new ITI-FEDER project titled Action Research on the ‘Black Grid’ and Experimentation to Preserve and Restore Ecological Connectivity: The Brest Métropole Case Study.
Initiated in 2024 with the support of Brest métropole, this research program will continue through 2027 in order to:
- Cartographier la trame noire à l'échelle métropolitaine : modéliser l'éclairage public de Brest pour produire une cartographie complète, puis la croiser avec la Trame Verte et Bleue afin d'identifier les zones de conflit entre éclairage et corridors écologiques nocturnes.
Évaluer l'impact de l'éclairage artificiel sur la biodiversité : mesurer les effets de la lumière artificielle sur différents groupes biologiques (chauves-souris, insectes, oiseaux, arthropodes) via des protocoles adaptés à chaque site, en vue de restaurer les continuités écologiques nocturnes.
Étudier l'acceptabilité sociale de la réduction de l'éclairage : mener une enquête sociologique avant et après les interventions, en intégrant les perceptions des habitants (notamment les questions de sécurité), et développer des outils de sensibilisation et d'aide à la décision, dont un jumeau numérique 3D.
The study sites are all located in the Brest metropolitan area (ZAC de la Fontaine Margot, Queliverzan, and Rody Kermeur).
Having developed a research protocol to assess how users and residents perceive certain changes to street lighting (reduced intensity, sensor systems, and turning off lights), the chair will continue and finalize the sociological and urban study on the perception and social acceptability of actions taken regarding urban lighting.
The project will conclude with a presentation seminar on the methodology used and the publication of a white paper regarding these topics.
