What is Pôle Langues UBO?
Le Pôle Langues UBO is the department of our university that is in charge of coordinating language courses for communication and special purposes.
(Note that philology courses are run by the Faculty of Arts and Human Sciences 'Victor Segalen').
Pôle Langues works with all the faculties and schools of our university, for which it provides permanent or temporary teaching staff.
Apart from the compulsory language courses in every academic course, Pôle Langues offers all UBO students a variety of courses and activities:
conversation workshops in 10 languages, including our regional language, Breton
optional courses to prepare for international mobility
French as a Foreign Language courses.
Doctoral students can benefit from specific courses in English and French for special purposes (FOS).
Pôle Langues works with the university's HR department and SGASC to provide staff members with language conversation workshops and courses.
The University's translation office (BTU) and Pôle Langues partner to help researchers improve their writing skills during 'Ateliers d'Aide à l'Ecriture Scientifique (AAES)'.
Pôle Langues is also in charge of organising certification sessions by the CLES examination in English, Spanish and Italian.
